Building trusted brands

GoDaddy is the world’s largest services platform for entrepreneurs around the globe, empowering people with creative ideas to succeed online.

Problem
GoDaddy were in the process of moving all of their existing e-commerce websites over to a page builder development tool however, the components were limited and done quickly due to time constraints set before my arrival. Result being that many websites looked the same and didn’t reflect their target audiences.

Accounts overseen: GoDaddy Pro, 123-Reg, Host Europe, Domain Factory, Velia, tsoHost and Sucuri

Question
How can all GoDaddy e-commerce websites both old and new be better optimised for desktop and mobile users?

And how within limited components can each site feel different and reflect their own core brand values?

Research
By reviewing every variable within each component and by researching each brand and its core values, customers and user data, was I then able to get a clear understanding of each task.

Solution
By working closely with brand owners and marketing leads as well as my own junior team, creating a new onboarding process and establishing clear goals for each brand.

From there my I was able to nurture each brand and reflect the best and unique user experience for each brands target user.

This included the following:

  • Establishing and implementing UX best practice.
  • Regular A/B testing on different components, hierarchy of promotions or smaller tests on language.
  • Creation of bespoke illustrations
  • Plus regular suggestions for new components that were greatly needed and would alleviate some of the pain points within the existing cms.

Conclusion
By involving and actively promoting the more junior members, who were closer to the project to share their thoughts to senior leadership and brand leads, meant a much more agile and quicker process.

Each brand despite being part of the same cms, looked completely different by utilising the customer data and by working within the constraints. When you know your limitations, the real challenge is finding how you can work within them whilst still pushing expectations.

I’ve had the pleasure to work on a great number of projects, but some of them can’t be shown publicly. Please feel free to get in touch if you’d like to see something that isn’t here.

Enough talk, let’s work together
